Recently, I was speaking to a client who is considering changing careers. He felt that there was no point in networking!
Does that sound like you?
Let me suggest you look at networking from a different perspective:
If you are looking to change your career path, you are (what we in Career Coach land refer to as a) Career Explorer.
Your job right now, is to go out there and EXPLORE.
Picture you’re on a path with multiple paths to choose from. This is your job search and the many options you have to choose for your career.
Being a Career Explorer means that you need to Investigate the possibilities. You can’t make that choice without it.
Networking can be a great way to Investigate those possibilities. Find people who are already on those paths and talk to them about their experiences. Ask their advice. It’s the best way to get real information about what your journey might be like in the future.
